We're making changes to our rediCARD facility

With a range of enhanced payment options available and a decline in popularity, our rediCARD provider has decided to stop production. This means we will be removing our rediCARD facility.

The good news is you'll have all the functionality you need with our Visa Debit card - with the added benefit of access to the worldwide Visa network.

I have a rediCARD what does this mean for me?

You will receive a letter or email notification from us that outlines more details about the removal of your rediCARD, your replacement Visa Debit card and when these changes will specifically take place for you.

I’m under 18, what will that mean for me?

We have a range of card controls for members under 18 with a Visa Debit Card. These controls are based on age and will be updated automatically when they age into a new group. If you would like different card controls applied, please contact us.

If the card is a ‘No Access’ card holders won’t be moved into a new card control group.

The below table sets out our age group controls in detail.

Glossary

  • Transaction limit
A reduced daily transaction limit will be in place to protect your child’s savings
  • Merchant group access
Cards issued for minors (anyone under 18) will automatically have merchants blocks in place for categories that are deemed either high risk or illegal for minors, e.g., drinking places (alcoholic beverages), gambling or betting. For merchant category codes please contact us.
  • Card not present transactions
Your child will only be able to use their card in store and not online – reducing the risk of fraud and potentially harmful transactions. Please note, digital wallet transactions will be enabled in this category.

  • More ways to pay: your Visa Debit card allows you to pay safely and securely in-store, overseas and online. It’s also compatible with your digital wallet and wherever you see the contactless symbol.
  • More control: you can control and customise your Visa Debit card using your card controls. You can temporarily block your card or block certain types of transactions such as online, contactless, and international transactions, giving you extra security when you most need it.

Members aged 12 and under can use a Visa Debit Card for deposit only purposes. Funds can only be transferred to and from their account by their parents, legal guardian or other adult acting on behalf of the minor. For information about operating restrictions refer to our terms and conditions.

Members aged 13-15 years old can use our Visa Debit Card. We will have additional controls available so that the card can’t be used on gambling sites, tobacco and alcohol sites, etc. Members 15 and under will not be able to make ‘card not present transactions’ which means no online purchases.

Members aged 16-17 years old can use our Visa Debit Card. We will have additional controls available so that the card can’t be used on gambling sites, tobacco and alcohol sites, etc. Members in this age group will have access to online purchases and a higher transaction limit than members 15 years old and below. For information about operating restrictions refer to our terms and conditions.

Members who have a rediCARD will receive an email or letter about the ending of the scheme which will include key dates and next steps. We will then send out a new Visa Debit Card in the mail that will replace their rediCARD.

Non-personal, association memberships and joint account holders with ‘two to sign’ operating authority can choose a Visa Debit Card with limited access that only allows them to deposit funds, if they would prefer.

Members who have the ‘deposit only’ function enabled on their rediCARD can have their Visa Debit Card set up in same way. This can be done by turning on a number of card controls.

Non-Personal members or associations can choose to have an account with limited access. Affected members will be contacted about the changes via letter or email.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to keep your rediCARD until it expires. It will be closed six weeks after your new Visa Debit Card is issued. The rediCARD facility will no longer be available from 28 June 2024.

It depends how the business has set up their MCC. For example, some businesses like a post office may offer gambling purchases along with other goods. The transaction could be blocked due to the merchant category code being set up as an establishment that offers gambling. Credit Union SA cannot determine what merchant category code the business is set up as and is reliant on the business applying the appropriate category code.
